Brajan Gruda is “very likely” to complete a move to Brighton and Hove Albion, although nothing has been signed as yet.

That’s according to Mainz sporting director Christian Heidel, who has commented on the transfer to Sport 1.

Reports over the last few weeks have seen Brighton pushing to sign the highly rated youngster, with it explained this week that a deal was progressing.

All indications were that a transfer was now in the final stages, with Brighton seemingly confident of getting the move over the line sooner rather than later.

Indeed, a report yesterday indicated that it should be finalised soon, and the youngster was the absolute dream signing for new Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler.

Talks are continuing according to Heidel, but not yet at the stage where he can say the deal will 100% go through.

“As of now, the transfer is not complete because nothing has been signed yet,” he said.

“But the probability that the transfer will take place is very high. The talks have been going on for ten days. I never said that Brajan would cost €50m. But I was very happy that the figure was on the table.”

It remains to be seen if Brighton can push the matter over the line, then, and how much they end up paying.

The Seagulls have money to spend after the big sales they’ve brought in over the last few years but have already spent big this summer strengthening the squad for Hürzeler.

If he is as keen on Gruda has been mentioned then it’s likely they’ll be open to paying as much as is required, although it seems it won’t be €50m.
