Earlier today, Catalan newspaper Sport brought strong claims regarding Barcelona’s effort to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool.
It was reported by the Colombian media and apparently confirmed by Sport’s sources that representatives from the Camp Nou side are set to have a meeting with the player’s entourage in the United States, where he’s playing in the Copa América for Colombia.
It turns out that as Mundo Deportivo now covers this story, they spoke to sources who now dismiss it.
Without even mentioning the Liverpool player, Barcelona reportedly simply denied they have any of their representatives flying to the United States for the Copa América.
Mundo Deportivo acknowledges that Diaz’s arrival would be a great signing for the La Liga giants, but there are still many steps to be taken to make that possible, as the club do not stand in a comfortable situation to buy him from Liverpool. So at least one big sale is needed this summer.
So even in case Diaz’s representatives are really in talks for his so desired Barcelona move, there’s still a long way until the Reds are contacted about that transfer.
