Following reports from England that Marseille were speeding things up in their pursuit of Sheffield United’s Iliman Ndiaye, local outlet La Provence bring their take on the situation.
They corroborate claims from Foot Mercato that the Ligue 1 side are working towards signing the Championship star this summer, with the newspaper stating that an agreement was ‘close to being found’ with the player himself.
In fact, the ‘final details’ were being sorted out regarding the Sheffield United player’s future deal in the south of France.
However, while those sources were confident, Marseille themselves, who were contacted by La Provence, weren’t as open with the details.
What ‘soberly’ filtered was that talks were underway, but regardless of where matters stand between the French side and the player, an agreement still needs to be found with Sheffield United themselves.
The two clubs were ‘continuing to talk’ regarding a possible fee, which, if found, would allow the player to return to Marseille, where he played for one season during his youth.
The forward ‘remains attached’ to the club, and has never hidden his desire to one day return there if the opportunity presented itself.
