Financial losses resulted because of the coronavirus pandemic have made it challenging for Barcelona to sign Lautaro Martínez this summer.

The Inter Milan star has long been a priority target for the La Liga side.

Last month, reports emerging from the Catalan media explained Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been identified as an alternative to Martínez.

The 31-year-old was instrumental in the Gunners’ latest success in the FA Cup, as he scored a brace both in the semi-final and final against Manchester City and Chelsea respectively.

He has a year left on his contract, and the north London side want to retain the Gabon international.

Over the past few days, multiple claims from the British press have stated the forward is expected to commit his long-term future to Mikel Arteta’s side.

Le10 Sport explain Barcelona have been interested in the former Borussia Dortmund man ‘for more than a year’, and his name is ‘at top of their list’ of attacking options for this summer.

Barcelona host Napoli in the Champions League round of 16 tie later today.

According to the report claims, the Blaugrana will decide whether or not to sign Aubameyang after their clash against the Italian club.

In other words, Barca’s intention for the Arsenal player this summer should be known soon.
