NEC are set for a windfall following the summer transfers of Vincent Janssen to Tottenham Hotspur and Jasper Cillessen to Barcelona, due to training costs and sell on fees. Both Netherlands internationals came though the NEC youth system before making the big time.
Voetbal Primeur have reported NEC have earned €450k from the transfer of Janssen from AZ to Tottenham, after he spent three years in their academy. Janssen was sold to the Premier League side for around €20m, and NEC receives 2.5% of the transfer which equates to €150k every year he was at the club.
NEC will also benefit from the transfer deal which took Ajax’s Cillessen to Barcelona during the last window. NEC will receive €500k for training costs whilst he was in their academy, and €1m for the resale they negotiated when he joined Ajax in 2011. In total NEC will receive nearly €2m from Tottenham and Barcelona, which will come as a boost to the cash stricken club.
NEC also benefited from the sale of Anthony Limbombe in the summer when they sold their star player to Club Brugge for a €1m plus fee, meaning the club have brought in a relatively good total recently.
