Sevilla’s talks for Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez ‘could intensify’ once Spurs have completed a deal for Atalanta’s Cristian Romero.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who explain how the Spanish side are set to be a ‘major beneficiary’ of the Argentine’s move to England.

Romero looks set to complete a move to Tottenham in the coming days after they met Atalanta’s asking price for the highly coveted centre-back.

This is good news for Sevilla on two fronts, firstly because of Jules Kounde but also in terms of fellow centre-back Sanchez.

They explain that with Tottenham set to sign Romero, it means they will be out of the race for Koundé, leaving just Chelsea in the race for him.

With them also considering turning elsewhere, according to reports in Spain today, that therefore increases Sevilla’s chances of keeping their prized asset this summer.

Secondly, it would also open the door to Sanchez, whose departure from Tottenham is likely to be ‘certain and immediate’ once Romero arrives.

The Colombian is ‘one of Sevilla’s main targets’, and him being more available than he was before Romero’s arrival is a boost to their hopes of getting a deal done.

Indeed, Sanchez’s agent recently admitted that he had held talks with those in charge at Sevilla, and it’s felt those talks ‘could intensify’ once Romero is done and dusted.
