The race for Southampton defender and reported Tottenham target Jannik Vestergaard continues being followed by the Italian media.

Today, website Tutto Mercato Web comes up saying Roma are set to hold new talks for the signing of the 28-year-old.

Club director Tiago Pinto is expected to meet the player’s entourage in the next week, as the Giallorossi are chasing a player with ‘experience and quality’ to fix their defensive problems.

But Roma won’t have an easy task in getting Vestergaard, since the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus are both said to be in the battle for his signing as well.

Regarding Spurs, Tutto Mercato Web says Vestergaard is one of the ‘hot names’ who the London side have been ‘working on’, although that might have changed now that José Mourinho has been shown the door.

It’s also said he’s ‘on the table’ for Juventus.

Even though the story doesn’t mention how much the defender would cost, the fact that three big clubs are after him should be enough for Southampton to potentially set up a good auction for his sale and cash in in the coming months.
