Dutch side NAC Breda could be set for a major windfall after Tottenham Hotspur made a €40m bid for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Jan Paul van Hecke.
Journalist Joost Blaauwhof reports that NAC Breda are set to earn 7.5% from the transfer following Tottenham’s ‘serious bid’ today.
Tottenham offer €40m
Sport Witness have already covered a report explaining that Tottenham and Brighton are sitting around the table discussing a deal for Jan Paul van Hecke.
According to the report, backed up by claims in England, Tottenham are keen to reunite Roberto de Zerbi with Van Hecke this summer. They have now made their move in an attempt to get him ahead of the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.
And any move will be highly beneficial for his former club NAC Breda. Blaauwhof reports that NAC COO Edgar Mol can ‘grab the calculator’ for the Dutch club.
According to his information, Van Hecke is set to bring in a ‘crazy amount of money’ this summer. Reports from England have indicated that Tottenham have offered Brighton around €40m for the 25-year-old. That, according to him, is ‘going to be cranked up even higher’.
NAC get 7.5%
And NAC are set to benefit as they get 7.5% from any deal. He does not explain if that is 7.5% of the total amount or the profit Brighton make. Such deals are often based on the latter.
If it is the former, that would account for around €3m. If it was based on the profit, it would be slightly less. Brighton paid €2m for Van Hecke in 2020, so that’s a €38m profit. So, NAC would get around €2.85m.
They will also likely be due a percentage from FIFA’s solidarity payments given Van Hecke joined them in 2018 and spent two years at the club in their U19s ad then first team before his move to Brighton.
NAC pakt 7,5%. #NACpraat
