Earlier today, we covered claims from Brazil saying Brentford are making moves to sign Welington from São Paulo.
It was claimed the Bees told the player’s agent to speak with the Tricolor and check the possibility of a summer deal.
It turns out that in an update brought by journalist André Hernan, it’s now said Brentford have little chance of getting Welington signed.
The reporter says that São Paulo decided they do not want to sell the fullback this summer. As a consequence of that, they set a big price for the player, and that’s €20m.
There’s no expectation that Brentford or any other English club will reach that amount, and the request is made exactly to avoid the transfer.
As previously reported by other outlets, it’s said São Paulo are set to meet the player’s agent and check the offers that have reached him.
Earlier on Tuesday, we covered a story from Jorge Nicola saying Brentford could get a deal by offering €5m, and now it seems that’d be far from enough for an agreement.
