Chelsea captain Reece James is now again being linked with a move to Real Madrid.
It’s Estadio Deportivo who feature a story saying the La Liga giants see the player as their ‘first signing’ for next season.
It’s said that even though Real Madrid are happy with Dani Carvajal, they want a younger option in the squad, and the scouts selected James as their favourite target.
The outlet recalls that the interest in the Chelsea player isn’t new, but the club now decided to become more focused on his signing.
The problem is that Transfermarkt currently has James’ price at €55m, while Real Madrid would only like to spend between €35m and €40m on the transfer.
It sounds unlikely that the Spanish side could convince Chelsea with that amount, even though they’d ‘make an effort’, especially by trying to convince him with a large five-year contract.
Estadio Deportivo still claim the Blues may accept a sale because of a ‘delicate financial situation’, although it seems clear the club could certainly find other ways to make that money.
