Naby Keïta is set to be among the Liverpool players to leave Anfield after this season.
The 28-year-old’s appearances this season were restricted due to a hamstring injury. He’s featured 13 times, which includes only three league starts.
His deal at Liverpool runs down in June and doesn’t want to extend it. That’s according to SportBild, who state the ex-RB Leipzig man wants to return to the Bundesliga in the summer.
Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are looking to sign the Guinea international in the next window.
It’s claimed Dortmund already expressed their interest in the player earlier this season while their Bundesliga counterpart ‘got serious’ for him in the winter, with a view towards the summer.
Their initial idea was to take the Reds midfielder for free, but Leipzig changed their stance and tried signing him in the winter market after Dani Olmo picked up an injury in January.
Leipzig were ‘interested in an immediate transfer’ in the winter market but Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp ‘blocked’ the transfer.
Keïta himself prefers a move in the summer when he’ll be available for free and have more options to pick from.
The two German clubs are interested in Keïta and they would be pleased to know that he favours a return to the Bundesliga next season.
