Despite having Ben Davies as competition for Destiny Udogie at Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou has also used the Welshman as a centre-back.
With the 30-year-old’s contract expiring next season, it remains to be seen whether that will be extended, but if the latest exclusive from Numero Diez is to be believed, Spurs are looking for a new left-back to elevate their squad even further.
The website have a report on Monday explaining that Tottenham were one of a few sides coming forward to try and sign Andrea Cambiaso, contracted to Juventus and a regular in Max Allegri’s plans since returning from his loan at Bologna last year.
It’s said the Premier League side and Lyon, alongside Bundesliga clubs, all ‘approached the possibility of opening contacts’ with the Turin side to see if they could sign the 24-year-old.
However, the stance from Juventus has always been the same, with that being an ‘outright no’ and asking clubs to ‘stop the interest’ in the Italian defender.
What follows suggests Tottenham took those notes and applied them, but Real Madrid didn’t, as they are ‘continuing to watch’ the left-back closely, with the possibility of this evolving in the next few weeks and months.
