VfL Wolfsburg are eyeing a move for West Ham United flop Niclas Füllkrug and believe there is a ‘realistic chance’ of a deal they want happening.

Sky Germany report that West Ham are exploring all their options as they look to get rid of the 33-year-old striker this summer.

West Ham future uncertain

They report that Niclas Füllkrug’s future at West Ham is uncertain. The striker is currently on loan at AC Milan, but that has not revived his career as he hoped.

Now West Ham are considering what happens in the summer. They are looking at a sale, but potentially even a contract termination. Because of that, Wolfsburg ‘sense an opportunity’.

The German side are ‘seriously considering’ the West Ham striker. And they see a realistic chance of making a move for him this summer.

West Ham are considering several scenarios. A contract termination is likely the last one given they know there’s interest from Wolfsburg and elsewhere in the Bundesliga.

Former club Werder Bremen is also a potential destination. There’s also interest in MLS. Fiorentina were credited with an interest today by reports in Italy.

Transfer opportunity

It would, therefore, be unwise for West Ham to terminate his deal at this point. But the interested parties are clearly eyeing a cut price deal.

Transfermarkt currently value the striker at €5m. So West Ham face a significant loss on the €27m they spent on the German back in 2024.

But anything is surely better than nothing, even if it is low cost. And given the striker’s contract runs until 2028, there is no reason for them to be strong armed for now.

But there is clearly a desire to move Niclas Füllkrug on this summer and bring his time at the London Stadium to an end. And that’s got various clubs circling looking to take advantage if they can.
