Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest have had their scouts watch Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno ‘on several occasions’.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say they will have to work had to convince the Serie A side to sell the player this summer.
They say that there could soon be ‘very important’ news on the players future at Torino, with them taking decisive steps to ensure he is locked to the club for as long as possible.
They consider him ‘one of the best products’ of their youth academy in recent years and plan to make him a symbol of the future.
Contacts between the club and his entourage have been going on for months in an attempt to get him to sign a new deal until 2026, so a year extension on his current deal, with a salary improvement.
They want to do this because they know that there are potential suitors lining up for the player, with Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest having had their scouts ‘follow him on several occasions’ this season.
Thus, they want to send out a strong signal to both of those clubs, and any other potential interested parties with a new contract tying down Buongiorno and making any move for him even more expensive.
Whether that’s enough to make Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest retreat remains to be seen, but it seems the intention from Torino at least is to put up as big a fight as possible to keep their man.
