Club send official for Rangers player – Steven Gerrard faces early transfer irritation

In the run up to the winter transfer window, Rangers’ Borna Barisic was repeatedly linked with a move to Serie A.

AS Roma and AC Milan were the clubs most linked with the player, with the former having continual stories in the Italian media during January.

The player’s agent confirmed interest, and it didn’t take too much suspicion to think the interest was being encouraged.

It was an irritation for Steven Gerrard, yet what the Italian clubs expected in terms of a deal structure was always going to be insufficient for Rangers.

Claims in Italy talked about a loan with a buying option, and then it was slowly realised Barisic wouldn’t be moving on such a deal, and that no Serie A club would be prepared to pay what it would take for Rangers to sell in the winter market.

Now Milan Live bring the interest from their local club back, saying Milan officials watched the player in action against Braga.

Milan’s presence at the Rangers match had been reported by the Portuguese press midweek, however, Milan Live state as fact that the trip was to watch Barisic.

Transfer irritation looks like it’ll start early for Gerrard this year.
