Djed Spence joined Genoa on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in January as part of the deal which took Radu Dragusin to the Premier League club.
The full-back returned to Tottenham this summer at the end of his loan stint and progress regarding a return to the Rossoblu appeared to stop in its tracks.
Spence has played for Tottenham during their pre-season friendlies and it seems as if the return to Genoa is now definitely fading away.
TMW have reported that Genoa have already signed Alessandro Zanoli on loan from Napoli, making a move for Spence nearly impossible at this point. The player was initially ‘seduced’ by the idea of playing for Genoa but the Rossoblu were later forced to ‘abandon him’.
The situation didn’t just depend on Genoa, but also on Spurs and the report points that perhaps negotiating with the London giants proved to be too difficult. Ultimately, it was decided Spence is ‘too expensive’ for the Serie A side.
It remains to be seen whether Spence stays at Tottenham or not, but it is considered fairly certain that he will not return to Genoa.
