Turkish website Fotospor claim Besiktas could have second thoughts about Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius despite announcing that the German will return to Merseyside after his loan spell ends.

It’s reported Karius’ attitude during the Covid-19 pandemic has forced Besiktas to consider keeping him beyond this season.

Fotospor report the club’s other foreign players like Kevin Prince Boateng and Victor Ruiz insisted on returning to their home countries, whilst the Liverpool loanee said he’s more than happy to stay in Istanbul during this difficult time.

In addition, it’s claimed Karius has told Besiktas’ board that he can convince Liverpool over a permanent transfer for free. The 26 year old also said he can give up his previous unpaid wages to stay at the club.

The Turkish website report that all of these things could lead Karius to staying at Besiktas for next season, as the Turkish giants have yet to find a replacement for him. Fulham’s Fabri, Aston Villa’s Örjan Nyland and Burnley’s Joe Hart have all been linked with a move to the Super Lig club.

Karius’ contract with Liverpool will expire at the end of June 2021.
