Even after Victor Lindelof said he’s happy to stay at Benfica, Chelsea, allegedly, still won’t give up on signing him.
Lindelof would only be behind Thiago Maia in the list of priorities. And the Swedish player’s €30m/£25m release clause is said to be pretty affordable for Chelsea, Benfica are afraid of losing him.
That’s why the Portuguese side are planning to offer him a new contract, with better wages and a much bigger release clause.
What A Bola probably forgot is that Thiago Maia is actually a midfielder, so he couldn’t be the manager’s priority in the chase for a central defender. Unless Antonio Conte is the Italian version of Pep Guardiola and we never knew about it.
