Nemanja Matić has seen his playing time restricted at Manchester United this season as he has been on the pitch for around 1,100 minutes across 20 league matches.

Even though he signed a three-year contract in July 2020, he continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

The midfielder played under José Mourinho at Chelsea and the Red Devils signed him in 2017, when the Portuguese tactician was managing the Manchester club.

Mourinho has already landed the AS Roma job, less than a month after being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur. Since then, there have been a handful of reports linking Matić with a move to Italy.

On Tuesday, Corriere dello Sport explained the Serie A side would need €10m to sign the Serbian.

TuttoMercatoWeb now claim Roma Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s man had given his approval to joining Roma, but they have said ‘no to Matić’.

The Manchester United player earns €7m net per season and that is ‘considered too high’ by the Giallorossi. Therefore, he will not arrive at Roma and won’t reunite with Mourinho this summer.
