AC Milan are set to turn their focus on the Premier League as they look to add a defender to Stefano Pioli’s squad, with Aston Villa, Arsenal and Chelsea players on their list.
That’s according to Sky Sports Italy, who report that after being turned down for their number one target, Milan are now focusing on England.
They explain that the Rossoneri are hoping to secure a loan deal and the first name on their list of options is Aston Villa’s Clement Lenglet.
He’s on loan at Aston Villa from Barcelona but has barely featured this season and that had opened the possibility of him leaving this month.
AC Milan would like to take advantage of that, ending his loan deal at Aston Villa and then signing him themselves on loan until the end of the season.
However, it is believed that ‘it will not be easy’ to get him from Unai Emery’s side, particularly as he’s been a first-team starter of late.
That’s led Milan to look at other options and the other two names on their list are Arenal’s Jakub Kiwior and Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.
Kiwior is particularly interesting as he played in Italy with Spezia until Arsenal sign him in the January transfer window last year. His knowledge and comfort in the Italian championship would make him ideal.
Chalobah, meanwhile, is a name that Milan have ‘tested in the past’ but there are doubts about him as he has had physical problems in the last few months. Thus, Milan would need to consider any move for him carefully.
They’re hunting on the market either way and the Arsenal, Aston Villa and Chelsea men are on their list as they work in the last week or so of the January transfer window.
