It had been a while, but Barcelona’s interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ruben Neves is back on the radar of the Spanish media.
The reason for that is because the Wolves midfielder was their plan B should they be unable to give Xavi his number one choice, Martín Zubimendi, who recently renewed with Real Sociedad.
That means he will be very expensive, while Neves will be cheaper, as his contract at Molineux ends un 2024.
That’s why Fichajes claim Barcelona ‘resume their interest’ in the Wolves star, who has become one of their ‘big goals’ for the summer transfer window.
This would be a move ‘orchestrated by Jorge Mendes’, and it could be ‘much closer than expected’.
The Wolves midfielder has been a near immovable object under both Bruno Lage and Julen Lopetegui this season in the Premier League, and it’s clear that should he leave for greener pastures in the summer, it would leave the Molineux side short of talent.
That’s not Barcelona’s problem, however, as they simply want to improve their squad after being recently eliminated in the Europa League by Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
