Nikola Vlašić returned to England when West Ham United signed him from CSKA Moscow in 2021 in a rather expensive deal, but that never worked out.
That’s why the Hammers sent the 24-year-old out on loan to Torino in the summer window after he failed to impress for them in his first season back in the Premier League.
As a part of the deal with West Ham, the Serie A side retain an option to make the attacking midfielder’s stay permanent.
The Croatia international has managed three goals from eight league games this season, and his displays have already convinced the Turin club to buy him from David Moyes’ side, according to La Stampa, relayed by Torino Granata.
Vlašić’s compatriot, Josip Brekalo, spent the previous campaign on loan at the Italian side.
They had an option to buy him but didn’t exercise it, which saw Brekalo return to VfL Wolfsburg, with the Serie A side now regretting it.
Torino want to avoid a similar situation with the ex-Everton man, and it’s claimed there is ‘no one’ else like Vlašić at the club, which is why the report states they have ‘reopened contacts’ with West Ham over signing him on a permanent deal.
Whether they pay the full €15m remains to be seen, but the intent is certainly there.
