The Brazilian version of Goal brings today one more update on Flamengo’s pursuit for the signing of Chelsea winger Robert Kenedy.
The outlet claims that the Rio de Janeiro side ‘remain optimistic’ regarding the transfer, as they’ve been ‘patiently waiting’ for a response from the Blues.
It’s said that Chelsea would rather loan Kenedy to a club from Europe, but there haven’t been any offers for the 25-year-old yet.
Flamengo are hopeful they can convince the Blues by including a ‘good buying clause’ in case the winger reaches some performance goals during the potential loan.
Kenedy is currently in Rio de Janeiro, and as he waits for the development in the negotiations, he won’t even join Chelsea for the pre-season.
Goal claims he wasn’t sure about a return to Brazilian football at this stage, but was ‘convinced’ that this could be a good project, as other players such as Gerson and Pedro did well following a move from Europe.
The club also used the argument that he’d be ‘closer to the national team’.
Kenedy spent the last season on loan at Granada, and has a contract with Chelsea running until 2024.
