Despite claims from the French media a week ago that Morgan Sanson could leave Aston Villa and return to Montpellier relatively quickly, that is no longer the case.
This comes from Allez Paillade, a website close to the Ligue 1 side, who divulge the latest information they have received on the matter.
Recalling what had been said previously by the likes of L’Equipe and local radio station France Bleu Hérault, they point out that Sanson, who made his name at Montpellier, appears to be getting some fitness back under his belt with Unai Emery at the helm.
That being said, the information they have is that, while Sanson’s agent has ‘indeed offered the player and a return has been studied’, moving for the Aston Villa flop ‘isn’t a priority’ for the French side.
The reason for that is Montpellier’s idea is to bring in a player ‘capable of bringing something straight away, but especially without presenting a risk of getting injured’, which the ex-Marseille star could do due to his lack of fitness.
The Ligue 1 side are currently in a fight against relegation, meaning they can’t really afford to take risks at this moment in time, which is why moving for the Aston Villa midfielder isn’t top of their list these days.
