Spanish side Valencia relish the chance of selling goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili to Tottenham this summer as they desperately need the money.
That’s according to Plaza Deportiva, who say the club’s whole sporting plans for the 2023/24 season hinge on getting rid of the goalkeeper or another key player.
Any deal for Mamardashvili would be a ‘strategic sale’, although according to agents pretty much every player in the Valencia squad is up for sale.
The Spanish club is blocked and cannot make any moves until they start selling so they are now keen to jump on interest from the likes of Tottenham in Mamardashvili.
A report earlier today made it clear they were in the mix for the goalkeeper as they seek a replacement for Hugo Lloris, and Plaza back that up.
They say that while Mamardashvili’s release clause is €100m that figure will not need to be matched and Valencia will sell for a ‘much lower amount’ given he cost them €500,000 in July 2021.
The goalkeeper’s market value is currently €25m and that figure, or at least anything over €20m, is ‘what could be offered’ by interested parties in the Premier League.
Tottenham are one of them and the player’s agents have already ‘sounded out’ various parties in April when it was made clear that Valencia wanted to sell.
Those in charge at the Mestalla are ‘dreaming of a higher amount’ for their player but the idea of selling has been established either way, meaning Spurs can very much get the goalkeeper if they want him.
