Chelsea have joined Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Juventus defender Mattia Caldara.

According to Sky Italia, the Turin club received two ‘important’ offers from the Blues and the Bundesliga outfit for the centre-back on Thursday. Chelsea’s offer was said to be €30m, while Dortmund submitted €35m plus €5m in bonuses.

Juventus have no intention to allow the 24-year-old to leave the Allianz Stadium as the player is yet to make his debut for the Old Lady.

Caldara joined the Serie A winners from Atalanta in 2017 and was loaned back to his former club in the same window.

The report goes on to mention that Massimiliano Allegri’s side could change their mind on Caldara, depending on the ‘extent of the offer’.

Sky Italia also mentions new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri follows another Juventus defender Daniele Rugani. Calcio Mercato reported on Thursday that the two clubs are close to agreeing a deal for Rugani.

It’s hard to believe Juventus have rejected both the offers claimed.
