It appears that Manchester United have made their first move of the last few days of the transfer window for a midfielder on Wednesday, and it didn’t go to plan.
That’s what Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting, revealing the news on his website that Fiorentina have ‘rejected’ all the loan offers that have been received of late.
Galatasaray were one of them, and this also included a ‘further offer’ from Manchester United made ‘in the last few hours’.
Therefore, despite claims elsewhere that Fiorentina could be more open to a loan move for the Morocco international as deadline day approached, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
This move, choosing to reject Manchester United’s loan offer for the player, suggests they are still hoping someone comes forward and gives them the €30m or so they want for their star between now and Friday evening.
Whether the Red Devils are prepared to buy Amrabat permanently remains to be seen, but the fact they have moved for a loan deal initially suggests that won’t be the case, and Erik ten Hag might end up having to make do with what he has at his disposal for the time being, especially if no sales are made.
