Brighton and Hove Albion saw a bid for Juventus youngster Kenan Yildiz rejected as they sought to secure yet another big talent.
That’s according to former agent Massimo Brambati, who says Brighton were willing to pay €22m for the 18-year-old.
Yildiz has broken through at Juventus this season, carving out a place for himself in Massimilano Allegri’s first-team squad and making 11 appearances in Serie A to date.
There is growing interest in his development, particularly from the Premier League, where several teams have been reported as showing an interest in him already.
Brambati, though, reports that it was in fact Brighton who made the first move for him and offered €22m for his signature earlier this month.
“For Soulé an offer arrived from Crystal Palace and Juventus said no. And for Yildiz the Bianconeri refused €22m from Brighton,” Tutto Juve report him saying on TMW Radio.
Whether Brighton revive their interest this month or in the near future remains to be seen, but it’s no surprise to learn that they are targeting the youngster.
They’ve made it their modus operandi to scoop up the best talent to develop around the world and Yildiz certainly falls into that bracket after his emergence this season.
He’s a name to keep an eye on in future, particularly if Brighton show a desire to spend their money on more top talents.
