Lille’s Adama Soumaoro was a target for AS Monaco in the last window, but the defender failed to complete the transfer.
Monday’s edition of French newspaper L’Equipe claims the centre-back’s move to Monaco collapsed due to medical reasons and Leonardo Jardim’s side have again activated their interest in him.
When talking about the 27-year-old, Crystal Palace get a mention. It’s claimed the Eagles were interested in signing the Lille defender and they even submitted a €20m bid for Soumaoro two years ago.
However, the Ligue 1 side turned down the English club’s offer, but no explanation is provided as to why Lille ‘refused’ Palace’s proposal for Soumaoro.
L’Equipe are of the belief the player’s ‘robust profile’ would suit the Premier League and he also prefers to try the ‘English adventure, despite attracting interest from Monaco and German clubs.
There’s nothing to indicate if Roy Hodgson’s side are still interested in the central defender.
Soumaoro’s contract with Lille expires in 2021 and having rejected €20m offer from Crystal Palace two years ago, they are ready to allow him leave for €13-15m.
