On January 29th, we covered claims made in Italy that Genoa’s Lukas Lerager has ‘ended up in the sights’ of Brentford.

Later that day, BT in Denmark explained Newcastle United can ‘ruin’ FC Copenhagen’s chances of signing the 27-year-old in the winter market.

The same outlet now provides a new update on the aforementioned clubs’ efforts to sign Lerager.

It’s explained there has been ‘great interest’ in the Serie A midfielder as Genoa have ‘received bids’ from Torino, Brentford and Copenhagen.

The Magpies have also expressed their interest in the Denmark international after including him in their transfer list.

Copenhagen have managed to beat competition from Newcastle, Torino and Thomas Frank’s side for Lerager.

BT explain the Danish side have a ‘framework for an agreement’ with the ex-Bordeaux man, who is expected to arrive in his country on Monday for medical tests and to sign a contract with Copenhagen. The ‘missing details’ are between the two clubs.

According to the report, Genoa wanted to recover as much money as possible and this is where Copenhagen have ‘proved to be the most eager in the hunt’.

Lerager believes a move to Copenhagen will help him get closer to his family and the club back to the top of the Danish league.

He can soon start his work at Copenhagen ‘if the final details fall into place’.
