Real Madrid have been looking at Manchester City’s Rodri and this has been covered by the Spanish press for a year.

In November, the midfielder admitted he was pleased to be linked to Real Madrid and also said when Los Blancos come calling you have to pay attention.

Fast forward to July and Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo talks about the possibility of Real Madrid making an approach for the Manchester City star this summer. New manager Xabi Alonso is said to have asked for a midfielder and the La Liga club feel it would cost them around €100m.

The Madrid club ‘understand none of them are worth it’ except the 29-year-old, and are said to be willing to pay €100m for him.

Rodri’s contract expires in 2029, and Mundo claims that although Real Madrid ‘really like’ him, they know it’ll be difficult to take the Spain international away from Pep Guardiola’s side.

Essentially, Real Madrid won’t go crazy and invest big on a midfielder and will only make an exception for Rodri.

He suffered a serious injury last September and returned to the pitch in May. The former Atlético Madrid man also played four Club World Cup games for Manchester City.
