Leicester City will be allowed to sign Atalanta forward Jeremie Boga on loan with a right of redemption in the summer.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the forward is ‘being followed’ by the Foxes ahead of the January transfer window.
We’ve covered numerous reports in the last few weeks that have made it clear Leicester are interested in Boga, with Brendan Rodgers looking to add a pacey winger to his squad next month.
Atalanta are keen to move the forward on and an earlier report stated that Leicester and Bournemouth were in the mix.
Gazzetta back that up, at least when it comes to Leicester, by stating that Boga is being followed by those in charge at the King Power stadium.
They add, though, that the formula for any deal would be a loan with a right to buy included for the end of the season should it prove to be successful.
The newspaper insists the ‘operation can be closed’ immediately on those terms, although it doesn’t make it clear if there would be a loan fee or what the value of the purchase clause would be.
Their interest in the player, who spent last season on loan with the Italian club, has been known since the summer, when they tried unsuccessfully to sign him on a permanent basis.
They remain keen and La Stampa, relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, report that the club now ‘accelerates’ their efforts for him.
They need the player ‘immediately’ and Leicester are not putting up the same ‘barricades’ in front of the player that they did in the summer.
Indeed, they are already looking for a replacement and would be happy to sell for €8-9m, almost half of the price they paid for him in 2019 and tried to recoup after his successful loan spell last year.
