Already well-known to the Premier League crowd, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister put his name on the map around the world with his performances for Argentina at the World Cup.
He returned to the Seagulls as a hero after helping his national team lift the trophy, and his status in European football shot through the roof.
So much so, in fact, that Real Madrid now want him and are prepared to pay €110m for him, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Italian outlet explain the La Liga giants have ‘decided to bet strongly’ on the Brighton star, as they are looking for a player who can be a ‘link between the defensive and offensive phases’ of their game.
They know there will be substantial competition, mostly from Premier League clubs, such as Arsenal and Manchester United, but the Seagulls have ‘no intentions of underselling one of their jewels’.
Having seen Enzo Fernández leave Benfica for Chelsea for €127m, their intention is to ask for more, with the website stating their valuation starts ‘from €150m’.
Another name Real Madrid are looking at is Stanislav Lobotka, currently at Napoli, but it seems the Brighton man is their favourite.
That being said, their ‘intention is not to go beyond €110m’, which is their limit, and if it starts getting too pricey, they could make a ‘radical choice and choose a less expensive player’.
