Atalanta are preparing ‘to lunge’ for Celtic’s Matt O’Riley to try and finally get a move over the line this summer.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who report that the ‘iron will’ is there for the Italian side regardless of how negotiations with Juventus go for Teeun Koopmeiners.
Atalanta wat to close a deal for the Celtic star regardless of what happens and there is even a belief that Gian Piero Gasperini could change his system to fit O’Riley into it even if Koopmeiners remains where he is.
Two offers have already been made to Celtic and Atalanta have reiterated to the Scottish champions that they will do everything to close a deal.
They are now working to see “if there are opportunities and possibilities” although Celtic have gradually raised the stakes in talks, going from asking for €25m to €27m to €29m. Atalanta, on the other hand, have gone from €15m, to €17m to €19m with bonuses.
Now they are preparing another offer that would exceed €20m and get as close as possible to €25m with bonuses.
Whether Celtic will accept that, given they’ve now reportedly pushed their asking price to €29m, remains to be seen but Atalanta are insistent and ready to keep pushing regardless.
