German side Freiburg ‘reached out’ to Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Fabio Silva this summer as they sought to add a striker to their squad.

That’s according to BILD, who say the striker was initially open to the idea before deciding to fight for a place at Molineux.

The newspaper explains that questions are currently being raised about Freiburg’s transfer business this summer after they failed to add the striker that their squad needs.

Several options were looked at across the summer but never arrived and Wolves striker Silva is one such player.

The newspaper reports that they have learned the club ‘reached out’ to the Portuguese forward about a potential move after he spent last season on loan at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven.

The belief was that he was not a part of the plans at Wolves after failing to assert himself since arriving in 2020 and a move to Freiburg was ‘entirely conceivable’ for the player.

However, the plan changed at the beginning of the season when he fought his way back into the starting XI and decided to ‘make a second attempt’ at Molineux.

That put an end to any potential Wolves exit and Freiburg’s chances of getting him, which at one point had looked positive.
