According to a claim in the Turkish media, Goztepe are closing in on a deal for Southampton goalkeeper Mateusz Lis.
The 27-year-old was loaned out to Goztepe last season, helping the Izmir club secure promotion to the Super Lig.
Sports Digitale have reported on the latest developments regarding the Turkish side’s pursuit of the Polish goalkeeper and they report he’s agreed personal terms.
It’s stated Lis has agreed a three-year deal with Goztepe, who will have the option to extend this for another season.
The Turkish media outlet go on to say the Southampton man will travel to Izmir for a medical tomorrow before his signing is made official.
Southampton and Goztepe are both owned by the Sports Republic group which saw the player being loaned there in the first place, and it now seems like a longer term deal has been brought about thanks to the relationship.
The stopper made 31 appearances for Goztepe last season, and clearly feels he has a future there.
Lis joined Southampton on a five-year deal in 2022, moving on a free transfer.
