Kostas Manolas’ future is likely to be away from AS Roma, if reports coming out of Italy are to be believed.

Paulo Fonseca and his new side are preparing to bring in a replacement for the Greece international and Tutto Mercato Web states their priority target is Marc Bartra of Real Betis.

It’s also claimed Roma have ‘probed’ Toby Alderweireld and his name has also emerged in the list of targets for the Italian capital club.

The Serie A side have conducted several surveys for the Spurs star, who has a release clause of £25m in his contract with the Premier League side, which will expire at the end of the 2019/20 season.

‘Probed’ and ‘surveys’ means they’ve asked for information on the signing, potentially contacting the player’s representatives and seeing if he’d be keen and what he’d cost.

Should the 30-year-old decide to leave the north London club for Roma, he will miss out on the top tier European competition as the Giallorossi have not qualified for the Champions League.

It may be an uphill task for Roma to convince the Belgium international to leave Mauricio Pochettino’s side, especially because Alderweireld had earlier expressed his willingness to start the new campaign with Tottenham.
