After so much noise about Vasco da Gama’s interest in signing Philippe Coutinho from Aston Villa, it seems the official talks for the transfer are just about to start.
Globo Esporte now reports that the Rio de Janeiro side will meet the midfielder on Tuesday. Club president Pedrinho will then deliver the first personal offer.
This meeting will also take place for Vasco to decide the best way to sign Coutinho from Aston Villa.
There had been much talk about a contract rescission. However, it’s now claimed that’s not such an easy path, because of the ‘financial issue’, although the player’s agents are still working on it.
In case there’s no success, then Vasco are set to try for a loan deal.
The good news for Aston Villa is that Coutinho is ready to take a huge pay cut to join his beloved club, and will accept his salary decreasing by 70%.
Now, since Vasco are said to be negotiating a three-year contract, it remains to be seen how that will be lined up with Aston Villa.
