Brazilian side Flamengo have finally spoken out on the transfer situation of the 17-year-old wonderkid Reinier.

The midfielder has been heavily linked to a move to Everton, and vice-president Rodolfo Landim now admits the player could soon be sold.

Speaking to Fox Sports this Tuesday, the official did not confirm having received a bid from the Toffees, but claims that Reinier may leave the Rio de Janeiro side if a good bid arrives.

“Reinier is a great promise, I would say he’s already a reality. He has already joined the first team, he’s excellent, he’s 17 years old, but he’s great. There is indeed interest from other clubs for him. We count on him in our squad, but I’ll be frank with you: if an irrefutable proposal comes…

“Suddenly you have such a big proposal for a player who is 17 years old, he’s a reality, but he’s just starting. You can sign three, four players who have already tested their performance. We have to keep it in balance. Make good use of the available resources that we have in our hands.”

Everton’s chase for Reinier has already been reported by two good sources in Brazil. First, Globo Esporte has claimed that Flamengo officials had been in Europe, and had a round with negotiations with the Toffees, with ‘good chances’ of closing a €40m deal.

Then it was time for two journalists from Esporte Interativo to report that the clubs found an agreement for the transfer. Since then, things went a little quiet, but Globo Esporte still referred to Everton as a ‘likely destination’ for the youngster.
