One of the big reasons why Manchester United star Edinson Cavani has been heavily linked to Boca Juniors is because he reportedly made a promise he’d be joining the club once he decides to return to South America.

That’s what has been encouraging the stories which the Argentine media brings daily on the chances of the Buenos Aires side signing the 34-year-old.

Now as Boca Juniors president Jorge Amor Ameal was interviewed today by Radio Colonia, he was asked about Cavani and other stars willing to join Boca Juniors in the summer. Besides being glad fabout it, he claims vice-president Juan Roman Riquelme has been working on the scenario.

“It makes me very happy that they want to come,” Ameal told Radio Colonia (via TyC Sports).

“Now we have to focus on our squad, on the objectives we have and, when I finish this stage, it’ll be seen. Roman talks every day with everyone.”

Edinson Cavani’s contract with Manchester United expires in the summer, and that’s why Boca Juniors consider him an affordable target, despite his high status.

The striker, however, is still to take a decision on his future. Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has repeatedly expressed his desire to keep the player in his squad, but the final word will really belong to the Uruguayan star.
