Despite currently being out with a knee ligament injury until next year, the rumours linking Leroy Sané to Bayern Munich have not decreased.

The consensus is that Bayern will return for the Manchester City forward at some point, be that in the January transfer window or next summer.

Should they wish to do so, it’s common knowledge that they will have to pay a monumental fee to convince City to sell the German.

Indeed, when a deal looked like it was close to being completed this summer, before Sané’s ill-timed injury in the Community Shield win over Liverpool, it looked set to surpass the €100m mark comfortably.

It seems, though, that if they are to make a second bid to take him back to Germany, they do not think it will require such a sum to do so.

That’s according to Christian Falk, a journalist for BILD and SportBild, who quotes Bayern president Uli Hoeneß as saying such.

Hoeneß is reported as saying he does ‘not think’ that Bayern’s €100m limit, which the club appear to have set, ‘will fall if (Bayern) act skillfully’.

This suggests that Bayern won’t, or don’t want to at the very least, pay anywhere near that amount to secure Sané in future. It also suggests they have a strategy in place to try and ensure they don’t have to.

How Manchester City will receive that is anyone’s guess, although it’s easy to imagine, they will demand a big price for Sané if/when Bayern come knocking again.

What is more certain is that Leroy Sané merry go round is heating up once again, and Bayern are determined to ensure any price they pay is one that they look upon favourably.
