Earlier on Monday, we covered a claim from Italy reporting there was optimism from Torino’s end that a deal to sign Nikola Vlasic from West Ham United could be struck.

It would have to be on loan, of course, since the Serie A side cannot afford to give the Hammers a similar amount to what they sent CSKA Moscow a year ago, but nevertheless, there was hope.

However, Calciomercato.it come forward with more news on Monday afternoon, revealing that while Ivan Juric is ‘pushing’ for the Croatian’s arrival from West Ham, Napoli are also keen.

In fact, a first move has been made by Cristiano Giuntoli, their director of football, with it said he and his associates ‘presented an official loan offer’ for Vlasic.

It’s then explained the West Ham man ‘would be seen as an alternative for Giacomo Raspadori’ should their attempt to sign the Italian from Sassuolo fail.

We’ll have to wait and see what the reaction is both from David Moyes’ side and Torino regarding all this, but with Juric desperate to work with his compatriot and clearly ready to give him a key role in his team, it might be better for all involved if this backup plan offer from Napoli was ignored.
