West Ham United and Juventus have been battling it out for OGC Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo in recent weeks.
On Thursday, Nice-Matin reported the Hammers have made an offer to sign the defender on loan with a €36m mandatory purchase obligation, while Juve have made a loan offer with an option to buy set at €30m.
Friday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport provides the latest on the Serie A side’s efforts to try and sign the centre-back.
It’s claimed Nice would prefer to sell the 24-year-old to Julen Lopetegui’s side since they have made the best offer so far. The France international, on the other hand, isn’t keen on joining West Ham or another English club.
Todibo favours a move to Juventus and their technical director, Cristiano Giuntoli, seems to be optimistic of securing his services, after holding regular talks with his agent.
Gazzetta say the Old Lady want to sign him on loan with a €30m buying option, which will be made mandatory if certain set conditions are met.
This includes the Turin club qualifying for the Champions League and Todibo playing 70% of their fixtures next season. Nice feel the second condition is ‘risky’, which is why they are pushing for a ‘redemption obligation with a low level of unpredictability’.
