Werder Bremen head of first team football Clemens Fritz has insisted he’s not worried about interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers in Justin Njinmah but will be pushing to get the player signed to a new deal.

The Werder Bremen chief has commented on the winger today after reports yesterday that Wolves were one of several sides showing an interest in the 23-year-old.

That report, from Kicker, explained that Wolves had turned their interest to the forward, who has six goals and two assists in 24 games in the Bundesliga this season despite only playing in 36% of the available minutes.

That explained the German side want to extend his contract but might face a fight to do so as Wolves and other clubs had become aware of him.

They were said to have put Njinmah ‘on their list’ of options ahead of the summer and could be considering a move for him.

It seems Fritz is more than aware of that report but isn’t concerned at this point, even if he does admit that he will be intensifying contacts with the player to sort out his contract situation.

“(We will) intensify discussions with the player at the appropriate time,” he said.

“It is clear to us that we will plan normally with Justin next season. Basically, he still has a contract. Justin has had a good season so far. It’s normal that one or another club is interested.”
