Despite João Gomes’ clear wish to move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Lyon continue to try and hijack that transfer and get him signed from Flamengo.
The French side have already offered more than Wolves for the player, and with him not accepting the move to France, they use all their weapons to convince him.
According to Globo Esporte, Lyon’s major share owner John Textor visited Flamengo’s training centre to speak to Gomes on Monday morning.
His intention was to show the career plan they have for the player and convince him to forget about the Wolves move.
Globo Esporte, however, claim the mission ‘is not easy’, as Gomes continues to prefer the switch to the Molineux side, as he has the ‘dream’ of featuring in the Premier League. A transfer to England is also said to be the priority of those who represent the player.
In case Textor convinces Gomes, then Flamengo will accept Lyon’s €18m bid and he goes to France. Now in case the midfielder insists on joining Wolves, it’s unclear how the Rio de Janeiro club will react to that, as the English club’s offer is said to be frozen for now.
