The sporting director of Cagliari has told the Italian media he’s confident about getting a deal done for Juventus midfielder Mauricio Isla. The Chile international is expected to leave the Serie A champions this summer, and has also be linked with a move to West Ham United.
Cagliari News24 have reported on comments Stefano Capozucca made when he was asked whether Isla would be joining the club in this window. Capozucca said the Sardinian club are hopeful they will sign Isla, and that they will have an answer from the player soon.
The Cagliari chief believes the player is suited to what he hopes to achieve at the club, and a deal can be sealed very soon.
“We are confident and we hope to be able to get a definitive answer from Isla. The boy is liked by project at Cagliari, and slowly we are approaching the white smoke,” said the Cagliari director.
This will come as a blow to not only West Ham, but also Watford who were both keen to sign the former QPR player this summer. Both Premier League sides were hoping to bring in the Chilean this summer to strengthen midfield, but it is looking like he will remain in Serie A.
