For many, many months, Mohamed Salisu has been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Whether it be with Manchester United or Southampton, the Real Valladolid centre-back always appeared to be on the move this summer, but instead of England, it could be for France.
According to Mohamed Bouhafsi for RMC Sport, the La Liga side have reached an agreement with Stade Rennais in Ligue 1 for a fee of around €12m with bonuses included.
That happens to be the price of his release clause, although the fact it includes bonuses suggests the Spaniards are being lenient when it comes to it being triggered.

However, it’s not a done deal yet, as the French club still need to convince the player with a contract, which hasn’t been done yet.
The journalist also points out Salisu also has other interested parties after him around Europe, including Southampton.
That means the Saints aren’t out of the race yet, and now know they might not need to put all of the €12m up front to get the defender.
It’s now up to those in charge at St Mary’s to decide how badly they want Salisu.
