Roma have initiated contact with Everton striker Beto’s entourage to discuss the feasibility of a move in the January transfer window.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who report that owners the Friedkins are keen to start talks ahead of January to boost Roma’s squad and turn around their fortunes.

They particularly want a ‘deputy’ for Artem Dovbyk and ‘contacts for Beto’ have begun. The Everton striker is a leader that is ‘gaining traction’ for the Italian side.

In fact, contacts with his entourage have been started in the last few hours with his intermediaries to ‘understand the feasibility of the operation’.

Beto has struggled in the Premier League since joining Everton last season and would like to return to Italy in a ‘big place’ like Roma.

How a deal would take place isn’t mentioned but there have been incessant rumours about a return to Serie A for weeks, with half of the league linked to the Everton striker at this point.

Roma being dragged into the mix is no surprise given the Friedkins are set to complete their takeover at Everton in the coming weeks. That would, presumably, make negotiations for Beto very easy in January if they explore them further.
