Standard Liege have made contact with Tottenham youngster Romaine Mundle about a move in the summer, although discussions are not yet concrete.
That’s according to Le Soir, who say the 20-year-old is eyeing up a move away as he wants regular playing time next season.
We covered a report earlier this month that stated Anderlecht were eyeing up a summer deal for Mundle, who is out of contract with Tottenham in the summer.
That explained that Mundle has been a regular for Tottenham’s U21 side this year, managing seven goals and four assists in 23 games to date, a tally that had earned him attention from Belgium ahead of him becoming a free agent.
It now seems Liege are also in the race for his signature, with Le Soir stating ‘contact has also been made’ with him as they eye up several free signings for the summer.
According to their information, ‘discussions are continuing’ with the player over a possible move at the end of the season, although they are not yet ‘concrete’.
Tottenham are keen to keep the 20-year-old if they can and have offered him a new five-year deal, but Mundle is hesitating as he believes it is currently very difficult for him to break through into the first team picture.
He would prefer to move elsewhere and get regular playing time to continue his development, despite impressing for Spurs U-21’s this season and managing three goals and two assists in the last four games.
Liege can offer him what he wants and have now initiated talks about a potential deal to beat Anderlecht to his signature.
