Two days ago, reports from Spain stated Ayoze Pérez had said goodbye to his Leicester City teammates ahead of his move to Real Betis in the winter market.
The winger’s deal expires in June and he’s not been relied upon heavily by Brendan Rodgers this season. This had convinced Betis to take him on a loan deal in January.
On Wednesday, Marca explained Villarreal have managed to get ahead of Betis in the race for the Leicester player.
The Yellow Submarine are in the market to bolster their attack after letting Nicolas Jackson and Arnaut Danjuma move elsewhere.
It’s said Villarreal will take the 29-year-old on loan until the end of this season and are ‘one step away’ from closing the deal. In fact, it could be closed in the ‘next few hours’.
The former Newcastle United man is seen as an ideal candidate as he could quickly adapt at the club and could also be a quality addition to the squad.
Pérez had agreed to join Manuel Pellegrini’s side, but he changed his mind at the last minute. Betis already consider they have lost the battle to Villarreal, who will soon ‘finalise the signing’ of the Leicester attacker.
